Raise and Release
Over the years, there have been many decisions made that I disagree with. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes I'm wrong. But the common thread through them all is that when I felt strongly, I struggled to let go of the decision and would try to say "but, what if X?" at every opportunity.
What I didn't realise at the time is that every time I raised the issue again, I was burning social capital. My complaints wouldn't change anything about the decision, it just taught people to ignore me.
That's why I love this post from Jens. By writing your concerns down and sharing them on a URL you can register your concerns and then continue with whatever else you need to work on. If in the future someone says "why did no-one raise X?" you can link them to your document and move on.
