AI Assistance Level

How I label the AI involvement in everything I publish.

AI is used primarily as a reviewer on this blog. To make this transparent, I mark each post with an AI Assistance Level (AIL) rating.

My commitment: All writing on this blog is AIL 2 or below. I do the thinking and writing, with light AI editing.

Reading the Badge

Posts with no AI image generation show a single rating: AIL: 1

If AI was used for images, the badge shows both: AIL: Writing 1 | Images 3

Minor AI Assistance

I wrote the whole thing, then pasted it into an AI and asked what's unclear or awkward. No new ideas came from AI.

  • Grammar and clarity suggestions
  • Catching inconsistencies
  • "This paragraph is confusing" type feedback

Human Created, AI Edited

AI Influenced

I wrote it, but AI changed something I kept. Maybe it suggested a better structure, rewrote a paragraph I was stuck on, or pointed out a gap I hadn't noticed.

  • Suggesting a section I hadn't considered
  • Rewriting a paragraph that was better than my version
  • Pointing out a gap and proposing how to fill it

I told it exactly what I wanted. Detailed prompt, specific structure, clear expectations. AI did the producing; I did the thinking.
