The machine with the name ‘ubuntu/trusty64’ was not found configured

When using an image from the Hashicorp box index, it provides the following instructions to use an image:

$ vagrant up ubuntu/trusty64 --provider virtualbox

However, that gave me the following error:

The machine with the name 'ubuntu/trusty64' was not found configured for this Vagrant environment.

Instead, I used the following commands:

# Import the box locally
$ vagrant box add ubuntu/trusty64
# Remove old Vagrant file if there is one
$ rm Vagrantfile
# Create a new one with the image we need
$ vagrant init ubuntu/trusty64
# Boot the box
$ vagrant up

The box imported and spun up fine

Dude, thank you so much have been struggling with this for over 2 hours all i had to do was

# Remove old Vagrant file if there is one
$ rm Vagrantfile
# Create a new one with the image we need
$ vagrant init ubuntu/trusty64

and now everything works perfectly.
